Default PvP Love.

From Linsey's talk page on the official wiki.
Quote:
I care a great deal for Guild Wars PvP. While I do play a lot of PvE, the most fun I have had in Guild Wars, has been in PvP. "PvP Love" is one of the major items on our list of things to do and it's high on that list. There are a lot of things we want to accomplish for Guild Wars while we have been given the time to work on it. It's just a matter of working our way down the list. PvP will get it's due "Love", just give us some time to get to it. - Image:User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 20:46, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Here's hoping for good things in the next content update. Will remain somewhat skeptical until then though - however long that may be.

Thoughts?

I can wait, but all my friends have pretty much already left due to lack of "PvP love". Going to be lame if in 8 months we have a fun meta but no one to play it with :(

People will come back if Anet ever shows they give a shit. Even for all the neglect it has gotten, GW PVP is an absolutely outstanding platform.

I don't understand, why is she making it sound like PvP balance isn't really important right now?

I think this is just another statement to try to keep people quiet or more yes we will get to it... in a year? Though I do not play it, hero battles was told of an overhaul ages ago hasnt happened, GvG is waiting for one currently (inculding other areas due to stupid skills).

So I think nothing more of whats going to happen from this statement.

Ah I feel warm and fuzzy. You can't possibly spin this in any kind of bright light. When the list is ignored for so long doesn't that list become big, big enough until the point where we'll be throwing a blind eye to over 50% of what's on that list just to make do. Last April we had a pretty big list of skills that were altered not bad either compared to months after then. Things have also changed from what I hear about Izzy actually handling the balances before compared to now and whether thats a scapegoat for the garbage we've had of late I'm not sure. I doubt it, as the process has still always been the same. The same amount of influence is present now just as before.

the rewards are given accordingly because pve is generally easier than pvp. after all, you'll want greater rewards for accomplishing something harder.

tyvm for getting back on track

tbh imo i agree with u but the rewards just don't.

take a look at the mission quests, u saying Tahnnakai Temple's mission and Dragons lair can be completed in the same time, with the same difficulty? cos they had the same rewards

the main gripe i have tho is why do the bags cost so much? check the wiki, according to them the most u would've got with 1 character doing ALL the quests (pve and pvp) would've neted only almost 10g and the large bag needs a whopping 15 gold. this might be a 'pve' love item but its a hell of a grind item too.

This may be true, even though pets are seldom used in pvp outside of IWAY (lol) and that zerg thing... but i have no doubt it was made to please the request of the pve community that have always asked for a kind of "pet stable".

It's absurd for people to expect ANet to go through every mission and boss in the game and appropriately assign coin rewards based on difficulty and time spent to complete them. Fact is, it's just plain easier to throw bosses and missions into a few groups ("easy", "medium", and "hard") and have the coin rewards partitioned accordingly. Even if they did try to assign appropriate awards to each zquest, we'd still get people on the forums complaining about how boss X is so much harder than boss Y, so why do we get more coins for Y than X, and similar crap like that.

Yeah, this means that some of the quests are just not worth it, but it also means that we get some absolute deals on occasion (70 coins per Rocktail kill, for example). Pick and choose what you want to do.

There's already been a balance leak, and it wasn't pretty. Izzy continues his terrible philosophy of ignoring actual problems, buffing counters, and making random buffs that serve no purpose but to make the game worse.

I seriously do not understand how this guy cannot be fired yet.

A lot of PvP players use PvE characters to PvP for various reasons, the Zaishen Coin rewards are just as useful for everyone.

You don't happen to know from these Balance Forums? That is a place where top tier GvG'rs discuss balance stuff, trying to convince Izzy how to balance this game.

I think that is working with GW1, or?

And to save space from future discussions; Most of the time Izzy doesn't want to listen what people have to say.

Sounds like they're just trying to calm the pvp community down without actually having to do anything about fixing things. Cool. Gud PR.

the problems with pvp imo started when they simply made too many skills available for them.

how can they 'fix things' by changing skills when some bright spark out there will always find an 'over-the-top' build to ruin pvp for the millionth time? no matter how many skills they change, pvp will never be balanced simply because players won't let it BE balanced in the first place. every1 loves the 'edge' on a game and getting the upper hand on the other players, and this always in gw boils down to nasty team builds using some skill combo that results in unforseen results.

Basically, the cause of all pvp problems was the factions expansion. End of story.

The problem is that Anet don't give a shit... if they did Izzy wouldn't still be there...

He must be the most stubborn prick ever to screw up so badly.

You have so many top/good pvp'ers giving advice and explaining how to improve the game and like a bloody five year old he decides that his way is the best.

I'd say some more stuff but i'd rather not get banned...

Tl;dr Basically take everything they say with a pinch of salt, Anet don't care at all and they're simply doing the bare minimum to retain as much of the playerbase as possible.
